The Swimmer

Highland Dawn

Lindsay Brewster

I paint mainly in oils or watercolours and occasionally in soft pastels, using a varied palette of colours depending on the subject. I mostly paint from photographs and don’t have a favourite subject although I am particularly attracted to natural objects such as feathers and shells, as well as to atmospheric scenes with beautiful skies and misty landscapes. I love looking at the world around me and always carry a digital camera in my handbag! I also enjoy trying new media and have recently learned the basics of encaustic wax painting and painting on silk. I have drawn and painted all my life and gained an A-level in Art in the 1970s. Although I didn’t pursue a career in Art at the time, I have since 2004 been enjoying teaching a few groups of retired people to draw and paint and am finding this to be immensely rewarding. I admit to being slightly obsessed by the creative urge, enjoying visiting galleries and exhibitions and spending many absorbing hours reading ‘How to’ art books and magazines. Many of my paintings are for sale and I always feel excited when someone wants to buy my work!
